SAE – MIT Collegiate Club

SAE MIT Collegiate Club

Department of Automobile Engineering, Mahendra Institute of Technology conducted the “The Inauguration SAE MIT collegiate club & Seminar on Advances in Automotive Technology” on Monday 12.09.2016. The programme was presided over by the Executive Director Dr. R.Samson Ravindran, Mahendra Engineering Colleges. The Chief Guest of the function was Dr.R.Subramanian, Head, Department of Automobile Engineering, Institute of Road and Transport Technology, Erode. He spoke the innovations and advances in Automotive Technology particularly in the field of Alternate fuel. Dr.Mohanasundararaju, Principal of Mahendra Institute of Technology in his felicitation stresses on the importance and relevance of such seminars and advised the participations to make use of the opportunities provided to them.

BAJA SAEINDIA2012

The aim of this design report is to highlight the final design of Team Asthraa‟s BAJA vehicle. This will compete in BAJA SAEINDIA2012 competition sponsored by society of automotive engineers. The teams from universities and colleges from all over India must design, construct and complete an off-road race vehicle that can successfully navigate the difficult terrain. In addition to the dynamic events this report offers a design overview of the vehicle constructed.

The Team Asthraa consists of 25 undergraduate students in automobile, mechanical and electrical engineering. The main objective of the Baja SAE design competition is to present engineering students with a real world design projects. This allows for a more complex design project than any single course offers in traditional settings. Students must operate as a team to design, construct and complete their vehicle within the strict safety guide lines. Students must also promote their vehicle in order to have its design accepted by a fictitious firm to manufacture.
The team approaches our design by considering all possible alternatives for a system and modeling them in a cad software‟s like Solid Works 2009 and Autocad2010 to obtain a Model with maximum geometric details. The model was subjected to analysis using ansys12 – FEA software. Based on analysis result, the model was modified and retested and a final design was frozen.

SAE Efficycle 2016

The Team Archers consists of 10 undergraduate students in automobile engineering. The main objective of the SAE Efficycle design competition is to present engineering students with a real world design projects. This allows for a more complex design project than any single course offers in traditional settings. Students must operate as a team to design, construct and complete their vehicle within the strict safety guide lines.
